Long story short: Moved. My dad put his 25CC weedeater on top of my CRT. the gas vent cap had a small hole in it, and the gasoline started coming out, and then around 2 pints of it fell on my CRT. i cleaned it up with water, let it dry and started it. it started, but i heard a slight buzzing sound... and it smelled funny. is there any everlasting damage?

Dont know if yuo need to know but: 30:1 oil mix super tech outboard engine 2 cycle small engine oil.

I'd be more worried about having the monitor on and it causing the gasoline or it's vapors to explode. It was pretty stupid to plug it in and start it up after gas spilled on it!

Yeah but i t started and ran fine for around 5 minutes... and I needed that monitor... and i dont mean to be mean but i dried it out for 5 hours before starting it... was that stupid?

Well it was smart to dry it up, but im sure there was still alot of vapor in there.

Anyways, did the monitor still seem to work fine even though it was making that noise?

well that soundwas there before.. but higher pitched. yes it works great if ya count the smell of gas ok =) should I get the hairdryer?

gasoline evaporates quite quickly, so 5 hours should be plenty of time to dry. As for the gas smell, spray it with fabreeze, it might get rid of it. I wouldn't leave it on when your not in the room either, you know, just in case;)

being this is two stroke gas oil mix, Water would have never fully cleaned up the flammable residue. Even if it were straight fuel, I think you should pitch it and pick up another, they are so cheap these days. And not worth a Fire Hazzard if any has gotten inside.

CRT's are all over the place, people actually pay to get rid of them now. I'm sure you can go to your local dump and they probably have a whole dumpster full of CRT monitors. I live in a really small town and we have so many of them here.
