Hello, I have a Gateway P-7805u FX series, I am unable to boot the computer, I have tried 2 different AC adapters, different brands, both Gateway compatible. When I went to bed the battery was fully charged and when I woke up it was unable to boot, it was plugged into the wall all night. Woke up, no power , when I plugged in the AC adapter there was no light. But if i plugged in the AC adapter into to the wall by itself and not attached to the laptop, the blue light would light up on the adapter. And when plugged into the laptop the light shuts off. I am positve that the laptop functions without a battery if it was working :P, I do not think the problem could be battery related. Any ideads, Thank you.
PS: need the cheapest route, as my warranty has expired.

It looks like leaving the laptop plugged in overnight may have caused some damage to the laptop. You might as well start looking for a new laptop in my opinion. Maybe take it in and get an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it.

Yeah, the laptop manufacturer and unless you've replaced laptop motherboard before, I wouldn't recommend it. Are you saying that it does or doesn't work when the battery is removed?

Did both adapters exhibit the same patter with their power light? Your original post is unclear on that.

Knowing whether or not the laptop boots without the battery (as johnb35 has asked) will also be very helpful. The battery may be dead and causing too much drain on the power supply causing them to shut down.

Well, then you most likely have a hardware problem with that unit. It sounds like some kind of electrical fault within the laptop - best guess considering the Power Supply behavior.

Take the unit in for an inspection. It isn't that old is it? How long was it out of warranty?
