Gateway FX Laptopwith Vista, help.

So I recently bought a new Gateway FX laptop and to say the least, it's really exceeded my expectations. The one major problem I have with it is that it WILL NOT shut down from start menu. Instead it restarts over and over and IF it does successfully shutdown, it starts back up moments later.

I've searched around for at least an hour or so and have not found a problem similar to the one I'm experiencing. If anyone knows a solution to this I would greatly appreciate a response.

Are you sure your hitting the correct shutdown button? With Vista you need to click on the start button and next to the red icon is a padlock and another icon with an arrow pointing right. Hover over that and click shut down. The red button is simply a hibernate button.

Yes I'm sure. I do exactly as you demonstrate in the screen shot, but still does the same. Goes back to the login screen after i shut it down.
