Gateway Laptop backlight doesn't work

I know this is kinda a repost of one of my previous threads but that previous thread was more directed toward a different issue. So, I thought I make this one more specific in hope that :I get more responses for it.

So here's what's happening:The backlight works upon boot up and shows the gateway logo but then as soon as windows vista loads up, the backlight is gone.
If i put the computer into sleep mode and then return back to my computer, the backlight is on for maybe a second or two and then flickers off.

I think it's either the inverter or backlight bulb but im having trouble deciding which.

The computer is a Gateway laptop w340Ui. there's also another sticker on the back of the computer that says the model is MT3707. both should bring you to the correct computer.
 
Either way, the screen will have to come apart.

If it's the inverter, that can be fixed easily for $10 or so. If it's the backlight, then you have to replace the whole display, which can be anywhere from $99 - $299 depending on the price of the screen. Throwing some model numbers into eBay is usually the best way to find the parts.
