Gateway laptop screen problem....

As I am viewing my laptop all of a sudden the screen seems to have a short in it that temporarily causes the screen to have white and black vertical lines that cover the entire screen so I can no view the page I am looking at. It is happening as I am typing this question but it does not affect the computer from recording my typing while it is happening. It only last a few seconds but you can imagine it is very annoying. Please help, it is out of warranty. Thank you in advance. Frank
 
it could be your screen, but i does sound very much like the graphics chip on the mainboard it starts off intermittent but will only get worse until the whole screen is covered with lines permenantly
 
I have purchase a new Gateway Laptop last year itself.But now-a-days it has started creating a problem.I think it is the screening problem only.So, I want the Co.'s service centres address.So, I can go there & try to solve the problem.
