hi,

I need a new PC and I want it for recording, surfing the net and some games.

I would like one with a dual core processor (think AMD athlon 3800 and up).

2 gig of RAM.

Big hard drive.

good VC is not important as I can buy one later on.

Most importantly, It must be quality. (I dont want it to fry in a few years).

I was thinking about a Gateway PC that I saw in comet but im not sure if these are good quality PCs.

Thanks for any input.

I wouldnt get a gateway pc they are overpriced. I would just build your own computer. Tell us your budget and we can come up with some parts for you.

That looks good for low to medium gaming. I would reccomend building one it would be cheaper but if you dont want to that looks like a good deal.

what do you mean by low to medium gaming?

what would make it good for gaming?

Iam going to be adding an extra gigstick of ram to it.

anythingelse thAT WOULd allow it to handle top games?

thanks.

(i bought the PC but it comes in two days.)

You could probably build yourself a pretty good machine with that money. Go to Pricewatch.com.

I've built several from that site. What I usually do is let the person show me the system they want from Dell, Moo or some other brand. We do the break down of the components and then check out pricewatch. The cost is always less then buying a complete system.

He has already bought it... looks like we lost another one. At least we can help him upgrade.

A 7600GS is not a bad card. Other than being overpriced, it actually wasn't that bad. (Other than being an HP)
