Gateway Refurbished GT5238E Good Deal or Should I Pass?

Would appreciate anyones advice on this. Before I go on, I don't game or do graphics, just do basic stuff like broadband internet, downloading/burning etc. I currently have an HP m260N Pentium 4 which I use as my second computer. This computer has never given me problems but is somewhat slow but not slow enough that its unusable as a second computer. My main computer is a Toshiba core 2 duo.

Anyway, I can get a refurbished Gateway GT5238E core 2 duo for $350 including shipping online. My budget is limited. What concerns me most is when I google this there are just 75 entries which seems bizarre. This is being sold by a legitimate company and they have 9 of these available. Here are the specs: www.support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1009189/1009189sp2.shtml

Is this too good a computer to pass up at this price or should I just wait for a better one at a similar price?

Hmm... Well if you can not afford a better system, then I say go for it. But be advised it will not play the older games very well, and the new ones not at all or very poorly.

If you are going to use it as a web machine or for office stuff, then it would be fine.

Just using this computer for web, downloading torrents, burning & some WP. Basic stuff. It's in my den. The good computer is in my bedroom where I'm most of the time & is a notebook.

Really? I have never heard that before! But what does that have to do with the topic?

Please, there is no reason to be sarcastic. I was simply telling him that some of the stuff he does is illegal. Because quite a few people actually don't know it's illegal to download and burn movies.

Unless you paid for the movie online and the movies you burned are backup copies of the ones you already have.

Good point on the first one.

As far as it being legal to make backups that's different depending on where you live. In the US It's illegal because you would have to break the copy protection on the discs in order to back them up.

But anyway back on topic. :)

Just don't quote the obvious anymore... I'm sure he has seen the Copyright notice/s on movies before... And are you serious? "Okay, let's just go buy something for ~$13 when I can save it for a car, laptop, etc...."

Look guys... everyone. I'm more then willing to discuss ethics with you guys as long as it doesn't turn into a flame war. So I invite anyone who want to discuss ethics to PM me so we don't keep hijacking this thread. :)
