okay, so im getting my plans ready for the salvage build, and i found some graphics cards that are cheap and what i think are good.

i found the geforce 210 for about 25€, so like 30$ i think. now i looked up a few things and it has reasonable speeds etc but i thought to ask if anyone here has had good or bad events with this gpu.

thanks :)

What do you want to do on your PC?

If you just want to surf the web, then yes, go for the Geforce 210. But, if you're thinking of trying to run quite demanding games with this, you've got absolutely no chance.

i im planning to use this as a COD4 and school pc really.

The 210 should do fine then.

okay, well im going to combine it with the Crosshair 2 formula, so i was thinking of buying 2 of these cards and using one only for physics etc and the other for the main things, to balance out performance. dont know if this is any better

I think instead of doing that I'd go and pick up a GTS 250.

the only GTS series GPUs they sell here in holland are the GTS 450's and atm i just cant afford that, but however i may be able to just scrape enough money for the EVGA GeForce GT 520 (01G-P3-1525-KR) dunno if this is any good?

gt210 is too weak for physx, i wouldnt even bother, buy a single 550ti at the least, and just let the cpu do physx work

Is there any local listings you can pick up used equipment from? Maybe if you can find a 8800GT... would spank both the 210 and the 520, and is probably cheaper.

i cant afford a 550ti and espiecially not for the crosshair2 and with a amd athlon64 le1600, would be a waste

8800GT? well i can buy things from people from a dutch tech site, tweakers.net but doubt that anyone has a 8800GT
EDIT: i found this one from someone on that site: Peak GeForce 8800GT for €45,- dunno what that is in USD, but id guess about 50 orso

If it's about $50 that's not bad. It'll smoke that GT210

true, but i saw a 9600GT for €30 and they say the 9600GT is better?

EDIT: saw a 9600GT for €15 but it hasnt got a cooler. dont think its worth it unless i can rip off the cooler from my MSI which is just a block no fan nothing :P

The 9600GT is much better than the GT210. 9600GT ~ GT240.

It's just a heatsink on the MSI? You might be able to get away with slapping that heatsink on and putting a fan on it. But if i was you, i'd go 9600GT. If your on a very tight budget.

well i want to use this as an allround pc that can handle COD4 really. in may im going to start a build for more highend gaming and then let my family use this setup

but yeah i managed to take the heatsink of the MSI card, it sucks so bad so no one will mind.but dont know how to put a fan on it so maybe i can just getaway with the heatsink for awhile

Yeah you'll be fine with a 9600GT for now. If your only playing COD4 and maybe some valve steam games. I'd go and buy the 9600GT with the cooler lol.

i might just buy the one without cooling and just mount my old one from my dead mobo. its got a heatsync and a fan  xd

haha best of luck to you. it may work.

well i messaged him asking if he can send me picture so ii can see if i can fit the MSI heatsync onit, or if i can fit on the motherboard GPU heatsync + fan onit.

also might buy a Radeon 3870 from a friend for about 20$

3870 would be a great snag.

yeah cus he wants to play NSF the run but it wont run on his PC yet as he is bottlenecked for the game, with a C2Q q6600 if im right and the 3870. so he asked me for advice and i just said get the gtx550ti and ill take the 3870 of your hands. all i need to do is give him like 20$ for it and install the gtx
