Okay,

I have a very annoying problem.

I just installed windows xp home on my nephew's computer but the video card isn't working. (Geforce 4 MX4000)

Win xp already installed it as a radeon card. So wrong drivers for the card. But when I remove the driver and reboot. Win xp again automatically installs it as a radeon card.

Installing the latest drivers from the site of NVidia doesn't help. he always takes the radeon driver. How can I remove the damn wrong driver and install the good nvidea driver? And yes, it is a Geforce 4 MX4000 :-)

Need some help. Thanks!

You say you just installed xp and the driver chosen by windows is for Ati? You almost definitely got Ati hardware despite what the seller or whoever might have told you. :)

Btw what motherboard are you running and does it have integrated video?

I assume that the video settings (and all settings) in the BIOS are correct. I also assume that its all integrated video (No PCI cards?) and that the CMOS battery is fine.

indeed, everything is correct. And the card already worked perfectly in the past. But now it always install the wrong drivers. Really annoying ...

They wouldnt happen to be ATi integrated would they? ... try brute force driver update via Device Manager :)
