I've been trying to play call of duty 4 on my computer, and it seems like my graphics card, a GeForce 8300 GS, should be able to run it pretty well. But from what i've seen so far, it's been very weak running. I have to significantly dial down the resolution and even then the framerate is very low. Can anyone help? thanks.

it's a low end graphics card. simply doesn't have the hardware specifications to run the game. a 8500 or 8600 (better would be 8800gt right now) are preferable if you want to play games like that.

Didn't even know there was an 8300gs... Trying to find out the performance on that, but it seems better than the 8500gt at a glance... I'll have to do some reading on that one :)

AS for COD4, that's probably more of a 8600gt game or better. Not sure how the 8300gs compares to that...

The card, could also be your Processor and RAM effecting it. What is your full system specifacation?

What lead you to believe it could handle COD 4 ?

I think that card would suffer at even the older games

Lol, I didn't even know the 8300GS existed, thought the 8400GS was the lower end. Well on topic, the 8300GS is with all due respect not good at gaming. The least you could do to play COD4 in playable fps is a 8600GT, which is not the best deal out there. If you have the money throw your system an HD3850, if its too high for you, get at least a 8600GTS which is like -$30 than the HD3850.

First, don't play on DX10 with that card. I don't even know how it would run using DX9. May wanna consider upgrading...

That card model was more aimed the HTPC market....
