Unless you are accident prone the best way is no case, in my experience all a case does on a smartphone is trap heat and cause a big performance drop and shorten the lifetime of the phone.

If you drop it a lot look into the otter box series. a bit bulky, but it is probably some of the best protection for your phone. If you are just looking for protection from every day small stuff look into a thin shell and an invisible shield.

I prefer silicon since I am a huge damager of gadgets. LOL Silicon keeps my gadget safe and light weight.

Look into CaseMate. Not sure if they have anything for your phone, but they like to use a 'two case in one' system; silicon glove and a hard case over that. Been using it on my phone since day one and love it. It gets quite a workout too.
