Hi,
Just joined to get some answers, since none of you are trying to sell stuff to me. I need to rebuild my computer again, I use it for gaming and internet, maybe some movies. I prefer ASUS and checked into their MB's wich lists the Striker and Crosshair, but do not see you all talking about it much. Bad idea?? I have used AMD in the past, but it's obvious that C2Duo is the way to go now. Searching forums for computer opinions does not make much sense to me, since it will be outdated next week. So can you give me some direction? Let's say around $800.00 give or take a little, between now and January.

For my setup if I had a 800 limit i would go with e6300 or e6400 (e6400 more recommended). mobo go for 775 socket *make sure its core2duo compatible G965 (cheaper) or 975x (better) northbridge. 800 ddr2 rams, the two ram companies I like are kingston (compatible with intel mobo's) or corsair xms2 personally (i think are cheaper and more reliable). I like either western digital or seagate 320gb oem's, (goes for about $100's). As for grafics card personally nivada more then ati. The rest it's best to ask someone else

This mother board....will it be good for 3 years, as far as keeping up with newer processors and graphic cards?

The reason you dont hear much about it is because they JUST came out. I purchased the Crosshair and looks and from reviews are impressed.

Right now I am thinking of purchasing the Core 2 Duo E6400 and I am looking for a reasonably priced motherboard for this chip. Now since I already have two good harddrives (160GB and 80GB) on IDE connectors, I will need to find a motherboard with those connections (also for my cd-rom drives) and an AGP 8x slot for my vid card. I was doing same research and I came upon this mother board ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Socket 775. It has what I'm looking for, but is this a good motherboard. If not what do you recommend?

Any help would be appreciated.

AsRock motherboards are crap, but if you want to talk about this, don't hijack a thread, create a new one.
