hey, i've been using the computer more and more, and use it for banking, email etc-generaly concerned about netbanking-
what i'm wondering about-

if there was a hacker, virus worm etc could steel bank details since we have a d-link dsl G604t wireless router firewall/modem thing?
so i'm guessing i'd be more at risk from downloading crap-spyware? then a hacker attacking my computer?
if i download a program(something legal ofcourse) say from warez of limewire how could i make sure my computer doesn't get infected? should i scan the file after downloading with avast or sbybot, or adware? or will these programs detect sus activity straight away?
i could ofcourse disconnect my computer from the net and be totaly safe but what would be the fun in that?

thanks guys
newbie-

Somthing legal from warez or limewire? If it was legal you wouldnt have to use warez or limewire.

Download AVG anti-virus.

And you'll never be truly safe banking online anyway....I still use it.

if it helps any....someone created a phoney banking homepage/login page for my banking, so that whilst I was wondering why I had to fill out my details twice...they were getting one login page sent to them, the back/site was getting the other.....
I went to the bank, told them my PC had been hacked and that i think my bank account was open to "someone else"......

They told me that never ever can I be held responsible for anything that has not come from my own computer...in short if there were funds missing or items bought with my visa bank debit account then the bank would trace the activity....I guess they have thier ways of clearing up fraud.

is everything with lime wire or warez associated with illegal activity? lol you can download legal and illegal stuff but i was wondering if a file is evil/infected, will it be a threat straight away or you'd have to open it and run it?
