"Generic PnP monitor" issue...

I am using a 27" Insignia LCD as my monitor, but the problem is that Vista isn't recognizing it. I have tried going to the Insignia website for drivers (couldn't find any), tried updating the monitor drivers automatically through windows, and also updated the video card drivers, and had no luck with it recognizing my monitor, other than the "generic pnp monitor" recognition.

The issue is that my monitor supports 1366x768, but Vista will only recognize 1024x768...

anyone have any ideas? Would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

Is that a TV you are using as your monitor? If so, then thats the reason you are having problems.

Yeah its a TV. When i plug HDMI in, i can get different resolutions, but they look funny. The best one is 1024, and all text that is typed kinda has a color changing phenomenon, its weird. Like the same word will go from red to blue to black in color. This only happens on vista generated typing. For instance, if i go to a .gif on the web or something that has text on it, the text looks fine.

Cleartype is on, btw, so that isn't the issue. Any ideas?
