Getting a new computer

Hey so I've been a console peasant for a while now, but recently with releases like Battlefield 1 and the such, I wanted to get back to PC gaming. Are there any brand computers out there that could comfortably run games like that, or any builds that would work and not cost a billion dollars?

Edit: Also, what's the quality on these setups?

Bitfenix Survivor Case - Fully wired, with 2x 200mm fans and LEDs.

I'd at least go for a 1151 build if buying new.

Also, avoid the Phenom build. Are you shopping around at used crap?
 
Yeah, just looking around a bit. What exactly is a 1151 build? Also, in my older computer I got an AMD Ghost Thermal 7700 or something like that. Is there any way that could pair with another graphics card or is it useless for this?

Do you have a budget? Like how much are you willing to spend? We can then use PC Part Picker and give you a list on components to use based on your budget. Then, you can buy the parts and have a local PC shop put it all together if you're not familiar with doing that. You also don't mention what GPU (Graphics card) you have there among your list. That would be one of the most important things along with the CPU. 1151 refers to the CPU socket type on the motherboard. Also note that you need an adequate PSU (power supply) to power what ever GPU you get. I have bought my GPU's from the EVGA B-Stock website. Currently still using a GTX 560 TI I bought from them about 5 years ago. So they are golden.

Install games that require speed to the m.2 SSD. Other crap like programs, music downloads, video, etc go on the platter.


For BF1.

Minimum System Requirements:

I'd say my budget is around $1800-$2000 although cheaper with same quality is obviously my first choice. I'm also thinking of this being a long-term computer if that's important at all so the stuff needs to be good for a while.

You may want to research the motherboard and RAM. I added a Pioneer Blu-ray BD-XL burner. You can change that to DVD/RW if you want. The burner supports M-disk as well. Those disks are made of a stone or something and will last apparently 1,000 years. It's an option.

You might want to upgrade to a GTX 1080 GPU if you want. They are around $750. Your CPU is a k version which means its overclockable. Also, the MOBO supports SLI which is great for future upgrades. But remember you would then need a bigger PSU since an extra vid. card will draw more power.

The only case I researched I bought myself for that cooler, the Evo 212 I listed in your list is the Cooler Master Storm Scout II. I know that case will fit the bill. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...r_master_storm_scout_2-_-11-119-263-_-Product

This case has USB 3.0 on top.

The dimensions are 20.20" x 9.10" x 20.50". So if you want to find another case make sure the width is at least or greater than 9.10". I read that the Evo 212 just barely makes it, but it will fit.

If you look for another case make sure it has USB 3.0 headers.

I also want to mention the SSD I picked out for you. It's a M.2 which are fast as all hell, but it's storage capacity is around 275GB which is fine because you should only use it for the OS and game you want speed for. But you could opt for a Samsung 850 EVO-Series which is 500 GB. For me personally, I'd chose the M.2 for speed at reduced capacity. Everything else will go on that 2 TB Western Digital black hard drive I listed.

Looking at the reviews on NewEgg for the motherboard it looks like some people have RAM compatibility issues. That is one thing that can happen to any motherboard, but be prepared if that should happen. NewEgg has a 30 day window to return items. The RAM I picked in the parts list is QVL (Qualified Vendor List) listed from Asus and it's low profile so it won't interfere with the CPU cooler. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820233852

Pro tip. With RAM you want the lowest CAS, highest speed and lowest voltage.

Do all the Cooler Master Storm Scout II cases have that drive bay or just the version I picked? I can't find anything about it.

Edit- My bad. It's the top part of the HDD drive bay that removes. That's to accommodate a larger GPU (video card).

A computer shop should charge you no more than $100-150 to put this together if you're not comfortable. I know it looks daunting.

Do you know for sure if the 1080 will fit fine or will that bay have to be removed? It doesn't matter either way really, just would be helpful for whoever is building it.
 
I posted a link above (post #10) with completed builds using that case and that video card, so yes, it will work. Not sure if the bay has to be removed though. I'll have to look into that, but it doesn't mean you won't be able to mount a hard drive. You will only have one anyway, and that's the 2 TB Western Digital I listed. Unless you buy another of course.

It's not hard to build your own computer. You have to be pretty thick skulled to really screw it up.
What's hard is troubleshooting a new computer that won't fire up.
