Well. I've been ruined and tried a friends Logitech G27 racing wheel. Looking into getting a relatively cheap wheel and pedals for PC usage. Primarily with Forza. I've got some Amazon credit to burn and have pretty much settled on the G29.

I don't need a shifter, but likely will add one eventually. I do want a clutch pedal though which many similarly priced options don't have. Any input? I've never really looked into them before, mainly just know it's a dangerous rabbit hole financially speaking. :D

Also there seems to be a PS4 and Xbone variant of the same wheel, both mention PC support. I don't have a console, and likely won't get one. I assume it doesn't really matter which I get? Seeing the Xbox variant for just under $200 which seems like a pretty good deal.

Any other options at a similar price? I've also looked at a few Thrustmaster products but the pedals seem far inferior until you're spending way more money.

As a huge Forza fan on the 360 I was never able to find a workable setup for the One or PC. I bought a medium priced wheel/pedal set and a quality stand, (spending around $225 altogether), but wasn’t ever successful in making it drivable. I think a lot of my issue was not finding a chair that supported me adequately/comfortably while using the wheel. As an RC enthusiast I’ve always wondered why someone has never come out with something similar to an RC controller. Seems to me it’d work great. I guess they’re making too much selling racing wheels.

Yeah that's my main concern is ergonomics. My current plan is just bolt it onto my desk lip and push my keyboard back. Friend did that and it actually worked pretty well, was able to pop it on and off his desk in a matter of seconds. Pedal placement is a concern as well as it being bolted to my desk knocking my monitors around. I was amazed how much force those things have and definitely had some monitor wobble going on.

I own the PS4/3 version of that wheel. It works great on my PC. Only problem I have with the set is the shifter. However, it is nice to have all the devices linked into one USB cord. Verses say Thrustmaster with three diferent cables all thrown about. However, Thustmaster does make a far superior shifter.

The best option for wheels and preventing all the wobble is a stand. I own both of these and recommend both. I use one for my Flight stick setup & the other for my wheel setup so I don't have to keep switching them out.

This comes completely assembled other than a few attachments. Though it looks great and has a nice finish on the metal stand.

Requires complete assembly and is as slick, but gets the job done. Yet it can be customized a bit more on some placements than the other one.

Yeah I expect I'll eventually get a stand but just getting my feet wet with the wheel. I live alone and my computer set up is in my "dining" room so have some flexibility on getting something set up that works. I'm gonna add a shifter later, just use the paddles for now. Want to get used to the wheel first. I can drive a manual, but only done it a handful of times over the years so that'll take practice.

Sounds good. I'd be more likely to get a PS4 than an Xbox but chances of getting either are tiny and I'd stick to playing on my PC anyway. The Xbox version without the shifter is just under $200 now. Think I'm gonna swing for it.

It might be easier on Windows to use the Xbox version anyway. I mean, doesn't a PS3/4 controllers take a bit of work still to get working in Windows? (Maybe not wired I guess?) Linux supports every controller in the kernel these days so I suppose results may very on the Sony version of the wheel depending on your OS.

Nah PS4 controllers are supported pretty much natively now. Few years ago yeah, but now not an issue. I know the Xbox layout better anyway.

Keep in mind our cost of living in Kansas could be subsidized with Monopoly money.
