Getting low FPS for my specs?

The specs are in my signature, i'm running XP SP3 so it's only 3GB RAM or whatever, but i'm getting the following:

In Team Fortress 2 on 1280x1024, high everything 4x AA and AS i'm getting FPS as low as 40 in big firefights, and lots of choke.. goes up to over 30.

Also in CS:S it can get as low as 65fps, COD4 about the same.

This just doesn't seem right for the hardware i've got in my computer :/

I've got the 180.48 drivers installed correctly.

Anyone know anything I can try or know what might be wrong?

For CoD4, do you have full settings?

ie, Anti aliasing x4, aniso x16, full textures etc

if so, i think it might be fine...a little low, but fine

Both on 4x. I was just expecting to get more out of Team Fortress 2. 40FPS is a bit low, anything over 60 and i'm happy

for CoD4, thats actually quite good...

but your res is low, so maybe they a little too low...

As for TF2, I dont know anything about it, so i cant comment, but i dont think its a very new game so it might be low...

If hte drivers are installed correctly, then i dont know what might be wrong with the card.

I know that a lot of games have fps cap (CoD is one of them). thry changing that...

Maybe on the low side since oc both cpu and 6600 gfx I have gotten around 30-40 avg fps on CS. Peaked today around 80fps.

I understand that. He stated it gets as low as 65 of CS. Hell I peak at 65 most times. I don't play those other games so have no idea what the avg FPS is on them.

Try turning down the AA it will chock any gpu no matter how powerfull. You should see the frame rate jump up as the AA goes down.
