Getting rid of the bootup icon

Hi people,

I'm new to the forum.

When my computer boots, about half-way through I get the usual blue splash screen with an icon with my name under it. I can start boot up and go away for a few minutes, but if I'm not there to push the button, that is where the process stops. It's irritating.

There are only two users, ADMIN and Floyd and both have the same privileges.
There is nothing secret on my computer and my wife and I use the same profile.
Any way to get rid of this pesky icon?

I dont really know if I get the point, do you ask if its possible that if u start up your pc that it logs in to your acc without the user/password screen?
if this is what you mean it is quite easy, just follew the following steps.
-start
-controle pannel
-user accounts
now u wil see somewhere a link/option that says something like"the way users acces there accounts"
press it and u will see something like"using the bootup screen"
just uncheck that option and ur problem should be solved

if I misunderstanded ur problem plz tell me and I will try to help

I forgot to mention that I'm using XP pro. I tried what you suggested and I got user and password at bootup.

The way that I returned to only has my name and a button to push. I am the administrator and there is no password. There are no other users. What I want to happen at bootup is to have the computer boot all the way to the desktop without my pushing any buttons or signing in. The reason is so that I can turn the computer on and come back 5 to 6 minutes later and find the desktop displayed and bootup finished.

I would post a pic of the button and screen, but it hasn't got to the point that I could take a screen shot. Maybe it is not possible, but it sure seems dumb to make me push a button when there is only one user and no password.

Go into user accounts in control panel and make sure there isn't an account listed as ASP.net. If there is, remove it. Also, I hope you don't have the default administrator account unhidden and accessible now. The only way to access the administrator account is by booting to safe mode. The administrator account allows you back door access into your system if something would ever go wrong with your own user account.

Thanks John, that did it!!:D

Tell me how to make the default admin acct. hidden and unaccessible. I renamed my name to Admin., and that is the only user except guest which is disabled. How would I access the admin account if something goes wrong?

I really appreciate the help. This thing has been bugging me for months.

As long as you renamed your original account to admin, then you are ok. I would rename it something besides admin though as when yoiu boot to safe mode, you'll have 2 accounts named administrator. If you boot into safe mode, make sure you have 2 accounts listed, the default administrator account and your admin account.

I changed it back to my name, so that the only accounts showing were me and guest.
When I booted into safe mode, both my name and Admin appeared so everything works.

Thanks for your help!
