well guys, i almost have all my stuff to build my pc, waitin on my mobo and processor, but anyway i have a dew questions...

1.I have an extra hard drive layin around that i wanna use, but it has an o/s on it, (windows xp) how do i erase everything and set it as a slave in my new computer? my main HD is a WD Raptor 10k rm

2. the case i got (raidmax Smilodon) the fans in it are 4 pin connectors, do i connect the 2 side fans and the exhaust fans together? like plug one inton the next one? cuz if not i dont have enough power connections from my P/S to supply all my fans with power.. (OCZ 600W)

3. Also how do i go about getting a fan controller that accecpts the 4 pin fans?

1. Simply plug in that hard drive and boot up your computer. If it boots off that hard drive, go into your bios and set it so your original hard drive is the first boot priority. Then in windows goto My Computer, select the new drive, right click it and select "Format". Format it as an NTSF.

2. Yes, you can plug the exhaust fan into the case fan.

3. I am pretty sure there arent any 4 >> 3 pin adapters. You can however get a female 3 pin adapter and solder it to the fan. Or you can buy a new fan that uses the 3 pin socket natively.

Yea right ..... , anyway ignore the 3 from this guy, you can use 4 pin fans don't worry it'll work fine even if the 1 is out

ok, so just plug each fan into eachother then? and also....i was lookin at evga's website at the mobo manual, do i have to set up my bios? or is the default settings fine? looks confusing.......

Whoops, i misread the original post, and apparently you did as well.

I am not sure if there are any fan controllers that accept the 4-ping (aka molex) connectors, so a 3-pin fan would be ideal. Correct me if im wrong.

Yuep, just plug them into eachother.

Most likely you will not have to mess with the bios. At this point dont worry about it. Just plug in the hard drive and turn your computer on. If it boots the wrong OS then let us know and we can assist you.

ok cool, sorry for all the noob ?'s first time builder haha, but my raptor is a SATA and that extra hd is just a normal one lol im retarded, but can i use the 2 differnet kind? and what SATA port should i connect it to on the mobo? if that makes sense? cuz it said there are 6 of them and it sait one is like Raid 0 then Raid 1 not sure what that means... and the o/s thing, my rapotr has no O/S i bought vista, i read after u get everything put together u power on the computer, put in the o/s disc then restart the computer and it will install it, then u restart it again, put it your mobo disc and do the same thing? that sound right??

Yeah, once everything is assembled insert the OS disc and install it. Then boot up to the desktop and insert your motherboard disc to install all the drivers. And remember to install the drivers for your video card as well.
As far as which SATA port to plug it into, it doesnt really matter. I usually just plug it into the top left one, but it doesn't matter, anyone will do.

ok kool, i think that should be all my questions thanks for the help, im sure ill be askin some more as i go along. how does my system look? im hopin to play alot fo games on very high settings, and im gettin 3gb of memory instead of 2.

lol why are peeps so content on the 10,000 RPM 150 GB HDD.... For like 100 bucks cheaper you can get 10 extra GB for a barely noticeable speed difference

the same reason people buy a Trans am with a WS6 package, doesnt really do anything, its just so you can say you have one ;)

I guess you never had a 10,000rpm drive if you had to ask. People don't realise the impact of the hdds speed on overall computer performance. It's actually pretty amazing how much faster my PIII was when i popped in a 320gb sata hdd v. the stock ide 40gb hdd.

Was this suppose to be a joke? there isn't a mother board capable of having sata ports for a 370 socket pentium 3, so please don't lie, if you just don't know then don't post/open your mouth

Ever hear that saying
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool then open your mouth and remove all doubt".

Ever hear of a thing called a PCI slot? If you have one of those then you can plug in a pci card that gives you an ide and sata port. Know what those are? I am assuming you dont so i took the liberty of posting links so you can research it.
So please, if you do not know shut your mouth/dont post.

Lmao, im pretty stupid? I think i just "pwned", "schooled" "owned" "r***d" you and you call me stupid? O the irony! :P
Anyways, i didnt waste money on it, i had some spare parts that i used to make a server.
Even though you have about 1,500 posts doesn't mean anything. I mean look how you assumed i was a dumbass and made a fool of yourself yet you continue to call me ignorant. Some people never learn.

This will be my last post about this in this thread as it is not fair for the owner of the thread.

....? yea so.....is this comp gonna be a good one or did u guys forget that u were helpin me? :)

Should be good but i wonder why you didn't go for the ocz 700 watts other than that no problems.

@littleblackxj:
