GHz question and cores

I just got a job working at home and the requirement says dual monitors 18" or greater and a 3GHz processor.

I just bought a new Dual Core Computer with a 2.1 GHz processor with Windows 7. Will this work? It doesnt say that it's 3GHz, but it DOES have that extra core - does that mean anything? I know it'll run faster with more processes running, but will I pass my inspection with this computer?

It just doesnt make sense to me how a 3.0GHz P4 can pass inspection but my 2.1 Dual Core wouldnt.

Shed Any light?
 
It'll pass fine. System requirements with older processor speeds can't compare to today's multi-core processors.
 
Those specifications are very general if you are including all the information.

It is difficult to compare many processors by simply comparing clock speeds. Processors with newer technology can perform more calculations per clock cycle than an older central processing unit.

For example is an Athlon II 240 Dual-Core 2.8 gigahertz Processor versus an Intel Pentium D Dual-Core 960 3.6 gigahertz Processor. The Athlon II 240 has better technology and can perform more calculations per clock cycle over the Pentium D 960.

Edit: That Core 2 Duo would definitely beat a single-core Pentium 4 in processing power. The program should work fine.

my 2.2ghz dual core pentium is supposed to be equal to a 3.33ghz single core, but otherwise if you want upgradeing is fairly cheap, if amd cpu then a 3ghz athlon dual core is 60, or if intel depending on socket, pentium dual 3ghz starting at 67, look it up on newegg, to find socket look at you processor and google it.
 
It really didn't say as far as old vs new, and I just gave you the 3ghz p4 as an example. I was at best buy thinking how the heck can a new HP elite with 8gb of ram and a six-core CPU not qualify, when the shady compaq at 3.1 dual core next to it can.

although many of these guys would disagree, i will say that something like that can do whatever you want really, and more if you get a discrete gpu, but there's no NEED for the 6 cores, or 4 hyper threaded as 8, that stuff is pure overkill and next year they'll dish out hundreds more in the stuff, but if they can afford it then it's fine, but for me and you stuff like that is a waste, and hackapelite, i was just cammenting and have never even looked at core 2 singles, they're useless and i've only been into computer for a couple months really so lay off
 
My simple analysis of this is that a 2.1 dual core is a 4.2GHz processor, thats how they're advertised, technically flawed or otherwise.

I would suggest you can simply communicat that,
 
Yes it should be enough unless the application is designed to ONLY use 1 core then you may have issues, however I doubt this would be the case.
