Will a 6800 graphics card persfom better if a person is using a 3.6 HT processor over a 2.8 HT processor?

If so how? Better graphics? Clock speed? Or just helpes card run smoother with no problems and setbacks?

Thanks

The improvement seen when using a large increment between processors has more effect on loading the OS and softwares by reduction of time to load. That alone won't see a faster graphics speed. More and faster system memory would go along with a faster cpu for overall performance.

A good set of drivers installed with it updated regularly will see it run far smoother. Along with driver issues temps can hamper things no matter which cpu was chosen there. But games and viideo should see a difference.

Well you might see a slight improvement as the CPU "organizes" stuff and gives tasks to the appropriate parts of the system. A slower CPU would not give enough tasks and thus cause what is known as "bottlenecking". It's about finding the optimal setup.

Graphics would look about the same, but if your playing games or running benchmarks, then you'll get a lower score/fps because of the slower CPU.

Well

One thing that the CPU often does is calculate the physics in games. Depending on the title in question, there could be a visible difference. I would still get the better CPU for an overall better performance increase.

it depends. if the video card is only using 256mb of its 256mb then it will only effect the performance of the physics in the game. if its using over 256mb of graphics memory, then it might have to backup the memory in the system memory... ultimately takinga larger toll because the data needs to travel from the memory to the cpu to the video card.
either way the 3.4GHz proc will make the game perform better, because the physics will need to be processed either way.
