Hello everyone. I have the option to buy a couple of Geil 1024mb memory sticks for my motherboard. My board was fitted with 4 Geil sticks when built.
2 x 1024mb + 2 x 512mb few years ago. The max this board can handle is 4096mbs. If I rip out the 512mb sticks and replace with the 1024 mb sticks am I acheiving anything.?This would give me max memory for this board. Would this make the computer run better and faster? This is my first question.

Really depends on how much memory your using in general now. If your eating up all your memory and hitting virtual memory alot. Yes it wil boost performance. If not, then you will notice a slight performance difference. Plus it will run in true dual channel with four 1GB sticks, alittle performance boost.

If your running a 32 bit OS it will eat up some of the memory for hardware memory addresses. So you will end up with alittle less then 4GB available to the OS.

Yes, I have 32bit Vista Home edition installed. Where do I find memory monitoring for memory usage? I have 2 programs installed 1. SIW (Systems info for Windows) + PC Wizard 2012. On this wizard program it has processor monitoring. Will I find it in one of these or elsewhere?

Right click on the task bar. Start Task Manager. Click on Resource Monitor. Then click on the memory tab.

Pretty average for Vista with 3GB of memory. What kind of computer is this? If its a OEM the make and model? If not just the motherboard make and model.

Thanks for your input. Now I come to my initial question. The 2x1024mb that I can purchase state: 2gb (2x1024mb dual channel DDR2 Kit.
240 pin
non-ecc, unbuffered
DDR2 memory modules
CL5
Voltage 1.8v
DDR2 800mhz

Will these be the same as mine? see below. That is my question.
