Hi I own a gigabite 8st800 and after do somethig in the inside the pc does make: beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.... and doesn´t start up.
I have been using Mac for the last 10 years now and i don´t know anithing about pcs.
Could sombody please help me?
I know it is a really old motherboard, but I would like to repair it because i don´t need anything more powerfull.

Sorry about my english, I am From Spain!!!

Thanx all.

The beep codes help work out the problem and different beep codes can mean different things so first we need to know what Bios it has (award, phoenix....ect)
.Also we need to know how many times it beeps. normally beep codes consist of long beeps or short beeps. SO we need to know how many long beeps, how many short beeps and in order and we should be able to figure out what is wrong.

I would say. if it makes long beeps, then its might be problem with motherboard its better to change it.

Huh? How do you know? Long beeps may well be a part of an error code that tell's some other component is not working properly or something, what makes you think long beeps mean a faulty mobo?

Think that one has a award bios

Repeating beeps is the Memory.

Repeating low and high beep is the CPU.

High repeating while computer is running is the CPU over heating.

Sorry to kep you waiting......

Sorry to keep you waiting but I move in to a new place and it took me some time to set up everything (internet connecton included).
The kind of beeps are short ones and never ending.
About the Bios the only thing I can tell you, is that it´s never been change and the review is the 1.1.
If you need photograph from the inside let me know.

Thanx 2 all.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi again.
I am sorry for that my english is not very good as I told you.
Well, I have check the memory and try in all 3 slots with the clips in the right position, but still doesn´t work.
*I have tried aswell with a 512mb ddr 400mhz memory and still the same beeps (Short and never endding ones), but y don´t know if this memory is compatible, if this memory is compatible we can say that is not a memory problem isn´t?.
*Maybe when I mount it I have put something in the wrong place, what it can bee? do you wan´t me to make some pictures from the inside (Hardware) or maybe record a small video?
*Can that be a Bios problem? The Bios can be reseted?

Thanx again 2 all.

There should be a small bettery on the motherboard, take it out for, say, 5 minutes and unplug all power, that should do reset the BIOS settings if that's the problem.''
