My motherboard does post or have a display but the fans run and I have to pull the power plug to get it to shut off. Could my bios have defaulted back to F5 causing my 965 to be not supported anymore?? I have never had this happen to me even when it has defaulted back so it makes me wonder if the board has gone bad. I bought a 140 sargas to see but aparently it will not be supported either and it does the samething. :mad:
 
Have you tried to reset the bios and just see what happens? Does it sound like the harddrive is spinning up?
 
Thanks for the reply, and yes, I have reset the bios several times and I am almost certain my HDD's are spinning.
 
My next guess would be checking the video card in another computer or another one in yours. Next would be the power supply. If those two check out ok then its probably the motherboard. I've had a few of the 790X UD4P and they were pretty stable boards.
 
I have tried another power supply to the same effect. My GPU is good.

Do you think it would be worth me buying an AM2 cpu in case the bios has reset or does it sound like the bios has failed?
 
You got a bios speaker hooked up to it, getting any beeps? Try swapping out the memory only using one stick. Hate to tell you about buying a CPU, then thats not it.
 
I cannot get it beep for nothing even if I remove all the ram or even the cpu from the board. It does samething with both removed. I know it is not generally recommended but I removed the heatsink then powered it on about to pull the power cord but the cpu is not even getting warm. My 8pin is connected and I have tried another PSU..

edit: I will probably try an AM2 cpu just to make sure this is not a bios update problem but it has never done this before so.. it's a gamble.. unless someone knows otherwise.. I can probably find a cheap cpu off ebay ..

I have that same motherboard and I bought it long ago with my 955, so I doubt the BIOS isn't supported. (The 965 is just a 955 overclocked...)
