Gigabyte GTX460 owners input

So my father wants to play Starcraft 2 and he is currently running a 7600GT so time to upgrade him after 5 years :P

I am looking for a quiet 460 for the fact he likes a quiet system. I read the below is one of the best versions of the card for that area. Anyone use it and can attest to this? Reviews claim its quiet till 75% fan speed but they don't compare it (for example to a 60+CFM fan)

Well, i can give a little input towards the EVGA GTX 460 1GB cards, so far users have said they run pretty quietly, and you can't beat EVGA's support.

Video from evga themselves, they show the card running at some point in the video, plus you'll get a little entertainment from agent tiny:

That video does not demonstrate the external exhaust editions(which all 1GB from cards from EVGA are), but from the users i have talked to who have purchased the cards it isnt extremely loud. One of the somewhat regular users in evga's chatroom has one, i'll ask them tomorrow for a specific comparison.

If he is running a 7600GT on a stock cooler...the dual slot coolers of the 460 are probably a decent bit quieter, plus the evga cards are nice as they exhaust all hot air outside the case. Also, evga recently released a bios update for the standard GTX460(non SSC) which boosts the clocks about halfway between the nvidia reference clocks and the EVGA SSC clocks.

Subscribed, because i have been ALLLLLL over the internet researching this card! (The gigabyte one i mean) I have read nothing but incredible reviews, and people saying it is the best price for performance out there. The competition is the 5850(or so they say). The 5850 however, is more expensive so i dont know how they compare it to that. If he is ever going to SLI, these cards DESTROY almost every other combination out there. If you look on overclockers forum, they have a LONG LONG thread about this card and its pretty useful. Enough that i changed my mind 3 different times on video cards, and have set my mind on this one for good! I WILL be ordering this card, and maybe with a month or two, ordering a second and going SLI. I cannot wait, and my build just got a WHOLE lot more interesting with the addition of this card.

If he want quiet, DON'T get the EVGA 1gb. You have to set the fan to ~45% or less for it to be quiet, and with that fan it will run atleast 80c.

Get the gigabyte, I've heard from owners that it's virtually silent and runs way cooler anyway. I still got the EVGA because I don't care how loud stuff is, I'd rather have the hot air externally exhuasted. But for most it's not a big deal.

Nah after market so you never hear it even @ 100% you can't hear it. Cooler wise it was fantastic and lasted way past warranty.
I will have to wait and see then...exhaust isn't that important as he has a Antec 900 and if it runs over all cooler then the higher end 2xx models then it might not be important on sound. Plus if its anything like my 260 (the fan design) that thing isn't loud but its not quiet either.

Thanks for the input.
