Gigabyte vs. Gigabyte...

Hey, whats the big difference between the 965P DS3 and the 965P S3???? there is a $10 difference is it still good if i pick the S3??

The DS3 has all-solid capacitors. They'll last longer, and may possibly give you a little more edge on overclocking. If it were me, I'd get the DS3, seeming as it's only a $10 difference.

:)

You're welcome. If you need any help with overclocking, don't hesitate to ask (I've got the DS3).

:)

You had to post a thread for $10... Dude.. That's sad... Really, really sad...

lol

The DS3 is the monster that has the reputation for overclocking. You might have to skip that six pack, but it should be worth it if it lives up to it's reputation.

Well, how do yu overclock???

Have you even researched the term, "Overclocking"? I would recommend you read the OC 101. That'll explain everything you need to know.

When I said I'll help you overclock, I meant specifically to that board. I have first hand experience with it, so I know a few things about it. I'm not saying I know it all (lol, far from it), but I can help.

:)

Damn right there! The DS3 has amazing overclocking potential...

whatever is making you mad these past few days, just stop taking it out on the forum. Maybe some people are actually tight on cash and the $10 makes a difference to them. Don't bother responding.

Either one overclocks about the same. I don't think the solid caps make any difference other than they last longer.

Rule of thumb: The S3 is a lighted version of the DS3. Less features. The DS3 is a good one. The S3 is a good one, but not as good as the DS3.

if they send you the DS3 G965 chipset by accident (like they did with me) send it back, it o/cs like crap. i just couldnt send it back knowing it was fast ENOUGH but now that christmas is rollin along my dad said he'll get me $300 worth of stuff, and i asked for a DFI infinity. we'll see how that does.

ill probably just sell the DS3 i've got to a customer when they want me to build them a new computer... or sell it online, same difference.

It also depends on the way your config was. The CPU type, and speed of RAM.

Looking at it, the E6300, I haven't heard stuff about OCing compared to the E6400 and E6600.

Well, there's less SATA ports, the Dual channel RAM slots are a bit crooked.

One pair is higher leveled than the other.
A bit less in features. It's not dramatically less.

You're right, I'm wrong. I did flip to flip comparison. It's only capacitors. That has to be the most weirdest boards I've ever seen. What the heck? Why not just spending something for better quality?

I know, it's a bit silly really... Especially since the price difference is only $5 on newegg... =/

Between you and me, I'd rather have the chances to my side when it comes to those types of electric devices.
