What eqivilant do you get instead of @gmail.com? As I know that here in the UK, Google are having legal issues over the use of @gmail.com addresses with some other firm and because of this, they're not allowed to issue out @gmail.com addresses anymore. If someone wants a gmail address here in the UK, when they register it's now @Googlemail.com, which in my opinion sounds better anyhoo . Check the google help pages, they usually post information there.
But yeah, what are you getting instead of @gmail.com? Although, as your in Canada, I have heard of no legal complications over there with Google and their email as of yet.
