god i need help

hey guys

can anyone tell me the difference between your standard desktop computer and this 'barebone' thing?

in about one year, due to being pissed off with buying computers from dell, i wish to build my own pc.

i was searching for cases and came across these barebone little box things

just wondering what they are, if its just a different way to assemble everything or somthing else

A barebone system doesn't come with everything, which means if you bought it, it would not be a functional system. Most barebones come with the motherboard, power supply, case, and memory. You would still need a processor, cd-rom drive, and hard drive. Not all are like this though. Hope that gives you a better understanding.

i mean will it be just as good as a standard computer?

as i said i want to build my own, so can you just buy a barebone case, and put in all the other stuff like motherboard, psu etc.....

Yes, but alot of the time, the barebone kit doesn't come with that great of stuff. You can most generally pick better stuff for a similar price.
 
I found by watching Best Buy Ads amoung others and looking for a HP system (IMHO the best off shelve with the most features) you get the best bang for your buck. Barebone set ups cost more in the end and thats (in your case) if the tower is large enough to take what you want to install. Plan on a new mother board as what comes with it most likely has the video card attached. Buy junk it remains junk! But over the years change has come and my logic (from long ago) might be off some!
