I have a crappy laptop. Cheap Dell N5040. I would like to run games such as, Batman series (arkham, city, etc...) and Elder Scrolls Skyrim. But my laptop sucks. The first thing I want to get is a video card, but I have NO idea where to even begin. I'll go ahead and list my specs below for help. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Dell N5040 Windows 7 SP1 64 bit
Processor- Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6200 @ 2.13 GHz
RAM- 4 GB
Video card- Intel HD Graphics (yes it SUCKS)

Where do I begin? When I go to a site that tells me about "will my computer run it?" It says everything is okay for the minimum except my video card. Do I need to replace anything else with the video card to make it run GREAT? My price budget to spend is $100-200 on everything.

Thanks,
Ashley Winters

With a laptop, you are basically stuck with what you have as far as video goes. You would need a gaming laptop to play that type of game.

I have yet to look inside, but you are saying there is no way to change hardware with a laptop?

As far as laptop upgrades go, you can only upgrade RAM, HDD, and sometimes CPU. With your laptop, you're stuck with what you have for video. You'd need to invest in a laptop with a decent graphics card.

Some laptops have changeable GPUs, but they're somewhat rare, expensive and not the one you have.

With your laptop it isn't even a video chip (Nvidia GT540M for example). It's just plain integrated graphics.

For a laptop that'll play Skyrim okay, you'll need a budget of about $600+.

Okay! Thanks for all that input, learned something new.

So is it possible to buy a terrible desktop computer and make it a $600 computer over time, or is it more than that?
