Goldwave voice over solution needed

Hi all,

I'm doing a project that involves some sound editing. I'm using Goldwave and have a background track that I want to insert a voice over into. Whenever I copy then paste the voiceover onto the background music it works, but it totally blocks out the background music, which I would like to still play just not so loud as to drown out the voice. Does anyone know how to do this? I can't find the solution in the Goldwave forums that actually addresses this. Any links or info is appreciated.

Cheers

No it's a multimedia project that involves demonstrating wizz bang effects of sound, images, video and text etc. The title page plays the theme from Halo and I have a text to speech (Mike US) welcoming the viewer to the site and giving instructions, which is the voice over part.

First off, Halo.... RIGHT ON!! lol

Any time i do video editing, power point presentations or anything else, all i ever do is just add in two separate clips. One music audio, second the voice. On each of the clip options, you can pick at what volume you want it at. Various programs do this very easily.

Although, if your looking to create only a single clip (one with music in the background of voice) there should be an option for this in the audio program. I myself have never used Goldwave, but just looking at the program website, it says that you can merge audio clips. <---Have you tried doing this? Creating two separate clips and merging them, should still give you the option of selecting the playback volume of each clip.

Here is something I found, read it and see if it helps :

Thanks for your help. The problem was when I copied the voice over file it didn't go to the clipboard for some reason but when I fixed that and clicked on the segment of voice over, up came some more sliders to change levels of each sound file etc and I made the background sound louder and hey presto, now I have a cool voice over on the Halo theme and it sounds pretty amazing. Only took me 5 hours in total!
