good antivirus programs

i am using NOD32 at the moment, an it's updated.You'l have to pay for it, Kaspersky or Nod32
How about multiple free of charge protection? AVG for antivirus, Spyware Terminator outperforming Ad-Aware plus seeing an active guard around the registry, and something like Commodo or Jetico Personal Firewall?
The latest 8.0 version is still retail for AVG while 7.5 plus Ewido's replacement AVG antispyware is seen at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free Grab the Antirootkit utility while there!
Spyware Terminator serves multiple purposes for adware as well as spyware removal plus acts too much like a firewall even when using the add/remove programs. http://www.spywareterminator.com/ Make sure you install that after Windows and all programs are installed when seeing a clean install go on since it acts just like the UAC now seen in Vista.

i liked the look of this one so i went an got it, an then found out that it is not for x64.
Do they make 1 for x64?
Apparently you never ran it long enough to find out it is one of hte best ones out.
i am with u on this one i have used AVG on dads computer for about 6 months until his computer was so virus stuffed it would take 5-10 min just to boot everything was lagey an then i put NOD32 on it an nod32 found something like 9 viruses an 500 spyware
I've been using AVG for several years already and found it better then several retail softwares with free regular updates. AVG will often spot trojans abd other bugs will mainly being an antivirus tool that sees high ratings quite often.
Besides an antivirus programs it sounds more like that system needed a specialized remover to track down some type of trojan downloader. You won't any one program that covers all 100% despite how high it is rated. The common given advice is simply multiple layers with being familiar with several not just one or two programs.

Agreed. These are the two top dawgs, at the moment.
Those along with Trend Micro's own retail product are doing well along with the AVG 2008 Professional. And 500 spyware found after running AVG for some time? That's pure fiction by the typical shareware or trial version of some retail product. "You must buy now to see fixed blah blah blah foobar!" is what that crap amounts to in actuality.
