can someone help me out?

How about multiple free of charge protection? AVG for antivirus, Spyware Terminator outperforming Ad-Aware plus seeing an active guard around the registry, and something like Commodo or Jetico Personal Firewall?

The latest 8.0 version is still retail for AVG while 7.5 plus Ewido's replacement AVG antispyware is seen at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free Grab the Antirootkit utility while there!

Spyware Terminator serves multiple purposes for adware as well as spyware removal plus acts too much like a firewall even when using the add/remove programs. http://www.spywareterminator.com/ Make sure you install that after Windows and all programs are installed when seeing a clean install go on since it acts just like the UAC now seen in Vista. prompt for this! prompt for that!

AVG Free 7.5 - For free - I have used this and have had no problems at all! :D:)

Or

Get the AVG the one you pay for.

Get avg free it rocks the house, except sometimes it detects the strangest things as being viruses lol.

Tuffie.

avg has been known to detect a lot of false positives
nod is good but if you're using the "non-suite" version you won't get spyware protection.

AVG sucks!! Trust me on this one

i am with u on this one i have used AVG on dads computer for about 6 months until his computer was so virus stuffed it would take 5-10 min just to boot everything was lagey an then i put NOD32 on it an nod32 found something like 9 viruses an 500 spyware

I've been using AVG for several years already and found it better then several retail softwares with free regular updates. AVG will often spot trojans abd other bugs will mainly being an antivirus tool that sees high ratings quite often.

Besides an antivirus programs it sounds more like that system needed a specialized remover to track down some type of trojan downloader. You won't any one program that covers all 100% despite how high it is rated. The common given advice is simply multiple layers with being familiar with several not just one or two programs.

Those along with Trend Micro's own retail product are doing well along with the AVG 2008 Professional. And 500 spyware found after running AVG for some time? That's pure fiction by the typical shareware or trial version of some retail product. "You must buy now to see fixed blah blah blah foobar!" is what that crap amounts to in actuality.

Any good program would automatically detect that amount of malicious coding just for a start. While each program will receive a rating some things are not basic fact. What was seen there was the typical selling gimic. Webroot's Spysweeper sees that garbage as well. "You must buy full retail to see these errrors fixed." Wake me up when the sales pitch is over!

Now here's one from a freeware.

  • Effective Spyware Protection
Spyware Terminator prevents spyware from infecting your computer.
  • Free 100% Real-Time Protection
Guards your system and ensures spyware is intercepted before it installs.
  • Antivirus Protection Included

  • Safe Internet Browsing and Search
Web Security Guard is one of many useful Crawler Toolbar’s features that displays website reviews and threat level to help prevent users from entering potentially dangerous websites.
