This would not be used for any gaming at all. Its for my grandma. Just want some opinions.

It's a bit over but you can cut back on the mobo and the video card if you wanted.

well why dont u just use what she has, and put windows xp on it, another 256mb ram stick, and get a new keyboard and mouse, if its not used for gamin that should be fine to web brows, email, and word process
 
I got a core 2 duo build (without monitor) for 390 after shipping and rebates. Then a monitor I could probably scrounge up. I think this is the route I am going to go.
 
With all the crap my uncle loads on there that bogs down the pc...you would be suprised. Plus, she wants it to last for a long time.

I will choose AMD 64 x 2 3800+ (65W) instead.
Don't buy GPU. Use on-board graphic is enough for checking email and surfing the web
