Does anyone know whats a good camera? I don't want to get those cheap digital cameras that cost like 70 dollars and don't take good quality pictures and break easily. I would like the good ones but not the way expensive ones that are like 300 plus. Thanks.

So are you looking for about $250 - $300? And are you looking to order or head into a store a buy one, and then after that, which country are you purchasing this in?

I have the Cannon IXUS 800 and it's great! I know it's called a "something" powershot in the US though, worth looking into :D

First off, please note to post once please, and there is an edit post button... :)

Per the original question, if you don't care about size, the Canon S3 IS, Kodak Z712 and Sony DSC-H2 are all 12x optical zoom cameras that are around $300 - $350.

Well, you really haven't answered the question of what you are willing to pay for the camera. All these canon "is the best" is just fanboyism. If Canon really is the best, all other's will cease to exist. There are other's such as Sony, Casio, Panasonic, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, the list goes on.

To help you out you have to give us a run-down of what you really need it for. Such as outdoor pics, families, vacations, etc. Portability? Size? The quality of the video is really dependent on you yourself because if you dont know how to take pictures, you will not get great pictures even if you have an SLR.
