I was looking at the hd 5770, but everyone is saying the 4890 is a lot better. That's what card caught my eye. Any other suggestions? Also, does it matter if its an invidia card because i have an AMD board, or do I need to stick with ATI? One more thing is the manufacturer. Does that really matter? Thanks

You don't have to stick with ATi--you can do either. I'd suggest the 4890 personally--it's a great card!

Well, for an ATi card, stick with HIS, XFX, Sapphire. Nvidia, stick with eVGA, XFX, I guess MSi, and BFG Tech.

No way I would pay 200 bucks for a 5770. Thats in the 4890 price range. The 4890 would kick it around till it cried for mercy. The 5770 cant hardly beat a 4870.

I don't think it can...? I think the performance is just slightly under a 4870, unless I'm misinformed and it's actually slightly over it?

What's wrong with the 5770? Nothing, it is a solid DX11 card. Basically it is a 4870 with DX11, less power usage, eyefinity and some other goodies.

If i had a choice between the 4870 and 5770 and would choose the 5770.

The real question is though has anyone tested a overclocked 5770 vs 4890? Also keep in mind drivers on 5770 are still new and we have yet to see a DX11 test between the two.

Who knows it might surprise us.

I agree if you were comparing the 4850/4780 to the 5750/5770. Thats one reason the stock has dried up on the 4850/4780. But the 5770 is out of its league with the 4890 or even the 4890 competitor the GTX 275. Plus you can overclock the 4890 too.

Even moreso--the 4890 is much, much better for overclocking than any of the 48xx line.

Is DirectX11 not much of a factor here? I believe that msot games that are being released in 2010 are going to be DX11, but who knows for sure.

You're not going to

The 4890 doesn't have DX11 support - the 5770 does.

Here's a Video comparing DX10 vs DX11 to see what the difference is for DX 11 games of the future.

It's not a Frame Rate benchmark - but shows the 3D details of DX11 of future games.
