Good Choice? or bad?

My dad told me that the IT guy at his work told him not to get a new computer monitor, but a TV instead..
So.. the tv i was thinking of is---VIZIO 22" 1080p RAZOR LED LCD FULL HDTV 60Hz, M220VA
its $250 at walmart...
Just a question...
Would it be to get say... 2, 22inch monitors instead of the tv?
and if the monitors would be better.. could u tell me which would be good?

(both monitors combined under $250)

Thanks

Personally, I don't see the point of buying a TV instead of a monitor unless you are using it for both. My 2nd monitor is a TV, but I also use it for TV... lol...

Monitors are generally cheaper than their TV equivalents. So yeah you should be able to get two monitors for that price (though I'm not sure how good quality they would be).

I'd be interested to know what justification the IT guy had for recommending a TV over a monitor. As Dropkick above mentioned, a monitor is going to be cheaper than an equivalent TV. Also, monitors would typically support higher resolutions and have better refresh rates. Unless you specifically want something with a built in tuner, I can't imagine why you would go with a TV over a monitor, especially in the 22" range.

Exactly this.
