hey guys, just seein if ne 1 can tell me if this build will b fine for mainly heavy gaming. is there anything you would recommend changing/upgrading eg mobo?
all parts i think i will be gettin from msy if i cant find cheaper.

Mobo - ASUS P5Q Pro $168
CPU - Q9550 quad 2.83ghz $597
RAM - OCZ platinum 2x2gb kit 1066 $135
HD - Seagate 500gb 72,000rpm $92
GPU - 9800gx2 1gb $465
CD - Pioneer 215bk $32
Screen- 22" 2ms viewsonic $249
Tv - Leadtek DTV2000h $62
case - havnt decided $~140
PSU - CM Realpower Pro 750W $192
OS - vista premium $136
acc - G15 keyboard &mx400 mouse $120
total $2388

Everything looks nice :)

But if I were you, I'd either save $165 and get just one HD4870, or wait for the HD4870X2 which will cost $500 and definitely kicks the 9800GX2 nVidia's ass. ;) :P

Ha! ^ There you go ;)

For the same price though, I'd still get the HD4870 instead. Less power usage and runs almost the same.

could b cos im in aus, but exchange rate wont make that much difference. the current price list says all brands same price at 465, but the older one had Generic, Leadtek, Gigabyte and ASUS listed all at 479.

i was going to just ask for the ASUS 9800gx2 :S

ill have a look around at the HD4870. is there release dates for the HD4870X2?

+ 1, MSY are good.

The build looks good, and i agree the 4870 is a good card, and i say get it. But MSY done have any of the radeons series.

But for the OS, i say get Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1.

had a look at a review on the 4870x2 and by the performance im worried about the cost :P
do u know any where in east melb that does sell the radeons cheap?
whats the benefit with 64-bit vista and how much more $$ am i looking at?

The benefit of the 64-bit is that you can use more RAM. In 32-bit you can only insert up to 4GB and Vista will only use 3. The 4870x2 should cost around $550. And I would look at getting a slower quad and just overclocking it. You really pay a lot for higher clocks, but you can get a CPU cooler for like $50. Maybe get like a 2.4GHz one, not sure how much cheaper, but then you could overclock it around 3.0GHz. Faster and cheaper.

Your talking about the Q6600 quad core, which is $194 on newegg.

Also the 64 bit is what you would want for gaming because it is compatible with everything and you don't want anything to be incompatible.

lol i was thinking that the cpu might be a little over kill, mayb a Q9450 would b a better choice? 2.66ghz quad for $379 saving heaps there, could spend on a better mobo and cooling for oc?

i am a beginner and do no understand what the clockspeeds of the cpu and ram necessarily mean and how does it improve perfomance????
Secondly what are 32-bit and 64-bit systems and what are the differences???
Help me out please.............

32 bit - not sure :P

64 bit - reads 4GB + ram, compatabile with everything as far as software goes.

Stick with your current CPU / Processor, ignore what we have just been saying.
