i decided not to get a amd pc because i want to wait for the 65 nm and the am2 so does anyone have good suggestions on a intel processor to last me for 2 years but i will upgrade everything overtime i do games and you know the teenage shit (aim, burn dvd, limewire)

i do games
im thinking 800-900 i dont want amd because am2 will be out soon and 939 will not be good for games any more
if anyone thinks i should still get a amd let me know

AMD processors are still better for gaming than intel... so if your buying a new PC even if its just to hold you off until the AM2s come out AMD is a better idea still.

The M2 stuff that is comming out later on this year is NOTHING super special ! It has 1 extra pin and is compatible with DDR2.

DDR ram latencies are so low now that you probably wouldnt tell the difference between them anyway.

Here is the line up for 06

Athlon FX-60, 3.0ghz, 939, Sandiego, 1st Qtr 2006
Athlon 64 X2 5000+, 2.6ghz, 939 & M2, Toledo & Windsor, 2nd Qtr 2006
Athlon 64 X2 4800+, 2.4ghz, M2, windsor, 2nd Qtr 2006
Athlon 64 4000+, 2.4ghz(1mb cache), M2, orleans, 2nd Qtr 2006
Athlon 64 3800+, 2.4ghz(512k cache), M2, orleans, 2nd Qtr 2006
Athlon 64 3500+, 2.2ghz(512k cache), M2, orleans, 2nd Qtr 2006

i dont care about having the best pc i just want to be able to run my games with not bad frame rates

both companies offer gr8 products and i dont think u will have to worry about bad frame rates if you get a higher end CPU. The choice is pretty much up to you.

But either way i would go dual core because the later games will be compatible with them.

ok if dually pentium d 820 or x2 3800 i was a intel person but a part of me says intel and should i go sli i think it isnt all that anyone think i should

ok and i will be able to play games on for at least 2 years if i upgrade ram and video card and maybe a fx 53 by the end of this year

well for not much more money you could get a 4200+ and with some decent RAM you could do abit of OC`in.

Better get yourself a nice videocard, atleast a 7800gt. That will eat up a third of your budget. The last thread you stated you would go with onboard video, well that wont cut it for good fame rates.

Overall, Intel Pentium D' s have no chance of competing with the X2 series. The x2 series out performs the Pentium D's in everything, including multitasking.

I think goin for a Pentium D wuld be a very big mistake.

yup get a AMD. they run cooler and better and faster and they are better. intels run to hot and dont run as well and are not worth getting.
