Good Gaming Computer? (From Ibuypower.com)

1. What is your budget? Around $2200-2600
- Yes, includes 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. No monitor, mouse, or keyboard. I have those already. (G19, Razer Mamba, Samsung 24 inch monitor)

- I prefer free shipping and tax if possible, lol. But I want to try to stay within the above mentioned price range

- Again, I would really like to avoid going over $2600


2. What is the PC being used for?
- Gaming, Work, and some "Heavy" video editing. (Not often, but HD stuff when I do)

- My Monitor's resolution is 1080p

- I want this computer to fly in all (or mostly all) games I throw at it, with max settings on

- I play alot of games, not too many FPS, mostly role playing. However, if I had a computer that didn't blow chunks I would probably play more FPS

3. Will you be looking at performing future upgrades? Yes, my build below reflects a system in which I think I can *easily* upgrade the things I want to (Ram, Graphix, Maybe Optical Drives) which I can buy cheaper individually.
- Yes, I plan to do SLI eventually

- In the build below, I included 12GB of Ram. If I do that, I will not be upgrading. If I downgrade to the 6gb then yes, I will upgrade my RAM

- Probably not, I dont know how to do it, and I think it would be hard to actually find an upgrade for i7 980x

-As mentioned before, I do plan on upgrading my Optical Drive and/or adding a second one (Blu ray)

A couple additional questions:





1) Do I need to upgrade my network card? I will unfortunately be using wireless internet, but I'm wondering if I can get by with a high end USB external one?





2) Are the advanced build wiring things really necessary?





3) I plan on doing SLI eventually with a second GTX470, is that going to be hard to do? (I am newb to computers) Do I need to upgrade my power supply or cooling stuff (over what I have mentioned above)?





4) How does the 20% overclock work? Is it an option I can turn on or off? (A shiny button I can mash when I feel its necessary?) Also, is it REALLY necessary to have, and does it only overclock my processor, or my video cards too? Better yet, someone please just try to explain the whole thing to me. lol





5) Is the motherboard I selected okay for running SLI gtx 470 and the i7 980x extreme? Additional comments?

8) Are rebates factored into the subtotal/total? For example lets say I have 100 dollars in rebates, but my total is $2600 exactly, does that mean in the end I'll only be paying $2500?








I want to try to avoid spending tooo much more than this, so please give me your honest opinions.

I dont know but, a card isn't too much more than a high end usb. I would probably go for the card.

If you are planning to add hard drives, or optical drives. And even then you can always buy them later. Probably not necessary, but if it is cheap might be nice to have the option.

Your power supply should be fine. 1000w is a lot. It says on there it is for quad sli.

I'm not exactly sure what this means, but as far as your processor goes I haven't seen anyone on this forum say they think the i7 980X is worth the price. Perhaps a i7 930 or 920. Especially for gaming, i7 920 is already more than enough.

6) SSD necessary for gaming?
I dont think it will have much effect on gaming. But some people certainly go for it. Not required though.

If it's an instant rebate its probably factored in. If it is a mail in rebate it isn't.

Your current processor is not worth the price. Also 6gb of ram is probably all you will need. 12 gb is excessive for almost all people. It might make video editing faster, but if you are only rarely doing that it probably isnt worth it.

How much is that computer supposed to cost? And would you be willing to build yourself one, and are you in the US/Canada?
 
This Build was 2600 on the nose (after shipping)

I live in USA, why does that matter? lol

I'd build a computer if I knew how. But I don't.
