Good graphics card and power supply combo?

(Hello, as my first post here, I'd like to mention that this forum was exactly what I was looking for. Well put together, very active, and lots of Computer info! I will definitly be using this forum again, seems like a great place!)

Alrighty, I recently bought an HP Pavilion p6719c from the local costco for $500. It looks great, it runs cool, and everything on the inside checks off in my book as legitimate parts. It runs games a little bit better than my old slimline, but I still can't play any "descent" games... So it leaves me to beleive that I should be getting a graphics card and power supply combo for my new computer. I have been looking on newegg, but I just don't know exactly what I'm looking at, and I had hoped somebody could help me get the best deal for the money. Here is the combo I was looking at:

Your choice in parts looks okay. What games were you looking at playing?

Also know that the new Antec power supply may or may not fit in your present case. It is possible you may have jury rig your current case to get the power supply in. Original Equipment Manufacturers sometimes get cases that are built specifically for the parts they choose.
 
I'm looking to play some of the more recent games, such as GTA 4, RIFT, Skyrim, (maybe) Crysis 2 etc. I know my PC won't run these games at Ultra high settings in the highest resolution... But if I could get away with running them at Medium settings at 1600x1200 with an average of 45fps I'd be more than happy. I've already taken a look in my pc and I've found out that the parts will fit in 100%. But will my PC overheat, or crash, or something else if I put these new parts in it? And I've also heard rumors about ATI/XFX cards producing a line that goes up the screen every now and then... Is this true? I can give links to the reviews if requested.
 
With the new video card and power supply you are over the recommended specifications for Crysis 2.

The old power supply you have looks like it is not good. That is common with Original Equipment Manufacturers. They like to put cheap poor quality power supplies in systems to save themselves money. The new Antec power supply will be able to likely enhance your systems performance.

I do not know what you are talking about in regards to the XFX video card. Could you provide a link?

That was with the 5000 series and with earlier drivers. I experienced this myself. It was due to the ECC memory they use. ECC memory does not artifact, just slows down, to a point, then it will crash (you get a BSOD) but you would see a grey screen. Later drivers fixed it. I don't own a 6000 series card so I can't comment on that. Crysis 2 is not a hard one to run either. My Athlon II X4, 4GB of DDR3 and a GTX 460 1GB was enough to max the game out at 1920x1080 with zero frame rate dips. Then again, the game is only DX9 :P
 
I have been told that the GTX 460 1GB is going to be a much better card for my money, is it? And I'm mainly conserned about my PC being able to handle this stuff, all the parts cool themselves right?
 
Please post a link to the video card you are looking at.

The new Antec unit and video card have their own cooling units built into them. I know you will really like the power supply upgrade.
 
That seems like the exact card I should be going for, but do I really need a minimum of a 450w power supply? Will the Antec PSU I posted links to earlier be able to run this card good?
