Good idle temp for 6800GS

I have an XFX 6800GS and the idle temp for it is 50 - 53c Ambient 39c

Is this a good temp? Thanks.

seems a bit high for idle, what is it under load?

it "used" to be 70c. But i changed cases and everythigns cooler. It seems to be 48c idle since i tidyed up inside this morning. It says the danger for it is 125c and its only like 72c load after a whole day on games so... is that idle ok?

my friend has the 6800 GS and he idles in the low forties and he says that it rarely ever goes over 55

weird! I have the PCI-E connector in... OH WAIT i forgot to say its the XFX high end model of the 6800GS its factory overclocked.

I have the Inno3D Version of the card and its overclocked at 500/1120, idle is 40 (right now) and load never gets higher than 75c

my friend put some AS5 onto his card, and he has his comp in the basement where its really cold.

Depends on alot of things. Anything from room temp, to the weather outside to the cpu can affect the temp

From UK idle temps 23 - 28c and load around 35 - 40c after a whole day playing games.

hmm, not sure why its high there then, but if your that worried about it you could always change the cooler on it for a better one

Well like you said, it has a shutdown temp of 125*c so 70*c max isnt gonna harm it

I would not worry, Graphics cards can withstand higher temps so 70c for a GFX card is just fine for full load, not to mention 40 something degrees for idle! If you are still worried (which you shouldn't be) get a silencer or something for it.

its the 2nd loudest thing in my case but i cant find a better low noise cooler thats doesnt take 2 slots

not on the card literally, he took the heatsink off, took off the generic crap and put on AS5...i did that too.

i got a XFX Geforce 6600Gt ..and it will easily hit 60c even when im not palying game
