Hello,

I am getting a Mac in a month so I won't be on here as much, but I want to know what the best software for each of my needs are (below) and it has to be free

Video Editing
Photo Editing
Music Editing
Web Surfing
Media Player
Media Downloader
Torrent Handler
MSN Messenger
App to check sport scores (NBA)
Jailbreaking iPhone or iPod Touches (Pwnage tool or Quickpwn?)

I might need other stuff, but nothing else comes to my head
It will be a MacBook with either a 120 GB HDD or a 160 GB HDD either 2.1 GHz or 2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM regardless of which model I get

Oh, and it will come with iLife '08 (iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, Garage Band)

I'm sorry :( I'll stay on here :) Oh and ukulele_ninja it was me telling the guy to shut the f up on linuxMCE lol! Just wanted to see what people here would say haha, and thanks respital

Lol, yeah! takeitngo is from Russell peters the comedian! That guy was annoying cuz he said he said some crap already, and the guy that wants to kick my ass... just read the next post I make :D

lol I got a -1 for asking a relevant question that apparently I was just supposed to know beforehand.

Im using Mythbuntu right now and have had zero problems so far, LinuxMCE might as well require a PHD!

Video Editing - iMovie will do that fine and you can download HD6 from the site if you want More GFX and a time line interfece
Photo Editing - iPhoto,GIMP
Music Editing - Garage Band will do that
Web Surfing - Safari and firefox and opera is in OS X too,but hidden although spotlight search opera finds it.
Media Player - iTunes most likely
Media Downloader ? Whats that
Torrent Handler - Vuze, limewire not into torrents
MSN Messenger - Microsoft has it on their site
App to check sport scores (NBA) Say dashboard has it or you can download a NBA score icon from apple in the app downloads dashboard area.
Jailbreaking iPhone or iPod Touches (Pwnage tool or Quickpwn?)
Quickpawn for macs free and other pwn tools.

I might need other stuff, but nothing else comes to my head

FCE / FCP is the standard to video editing.
Vegas Pro gets good reviews, need VM.
I've never got into photo editing, not much need. Played with Aperture, looks neat.

Hopefully your getting the new design model, I dislike the plastic ones, POS.

Actually, I'm not, I like the plastic ones a lot. And an older Mac is better than nothing (sister is taking comp) plus i've been asking for one since grade 5 and we are getting a good price, 999.99 + 13% tax new in $CAD

My responses are in bold
