Good mobo?

DFI LanParty UT RDX200 Cross-Fire Socket 939 ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 CrossFire AMD Motherboard

that is a very nice mobo thats comp with ATI x800 + graphics cards for crossfire config and also gr8 for overclocking !

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Another gr8 mobo for nVidia SLi config, also a gr8 mobo for overclocking !!!

its really down to what graphics cards you are going to get !

top one for ATi graphics & bottom 1 for Nvidia !

How about if someone doesn't want SLI or Crossfire as I read in the GFX Cards 101 that it is probably better to get a top spec GFX card rather than 2 less powerful ones as in the real world it probably isn't going to be that noticeable -unless you have an unlimited or large budget!

What would be an excellent non SLI or Crossfire board (preferably socket939)

From what I've heard the RX200 is has more overclocking options and a slightly lower top HTT. It is also able to run 4 DIMMs at 1T. It is also a bit less user firendly.

The NF4 has slightly less overclocking options, but a higher top HTT, and isnt able to run 4 DIMMs 1T.

I would go with the NF4 but I think some places have the Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR eXpert now, which has the ability's of both :)

I will be overclocking, and I will be getting a Nvidia 7800GTX.... not sure on the SLI, the new 7800GTX 512MB should be enough I hope, which mobo would I get?

i would go for the NF4 chipset mobo.
since both ( grafics and chipset) are made by NVidia. ( wich does have the better/more stable drivers) its highly unlikely you'll have issues with it :)

They are both good mobos although i might suggest also the Sapphire PURE Crossfire Advantage and ASUS A8N32-SLI DLX

See OC 101 for NF4Ultra motherboards

It is also a bit less user firendly.
Possibly (although thats probably subjective) but the nice thing about high end overclocking boards is that user-friendliness isnt a requirement :)

Yes but with a net clock of DDR405 or something miniscule like that haha

Id hunt down either any of the NF4 boards I listed in OC 101

ATI drivers might be stupider to get and they might have a bit less performance (although no human being would be able to tell in any normal operation), but their drivers arent unstable

Anotyher thing to take into considerations is that the RDX200 still has many bugs, it often refuses to boot after you change the BIOS. This can probably be solved with a BIOS flash, but DFI hasnt released one that fixes this yet.

1. Possibly but ive not personally encountered that problem yet
2. NF4 (and in particular, DFI's) also have their own slew of issues (i.e., Stepping E+ "support")
3. DFI isnt the only maker of RX200 boards. :)
