Hi. I'm kind of new to this computer stuff. I decided recently that I wanted to make my own computer, one specifically for gaming, the problem is I don't know which motherboard to buy.
I found a brand of motherboards that are supposedly the best called ASUS. One particular motherboard caught my eye, its called Commando. It seems to have really good features, but a few things about it bothered me.
Firstly, the OverClocking. Now, I had no idea what this was when I first read that, so I looked it up. Apparently its maxing out the CPU and Motherboards speed/output or something, which eventually leads to damage. I'm not fond of that damaging part, and I really can't afford to be replacing parts every few years/months, or however often OC parts get damaged. Would you recomend an OC capable motherboard to me, who really isn't a hardcore player, but would like really cool features on his computer?
The other problem are the PCI slots. Now, to a newbies eyes this may seem to be a problem, but I'm not so sure about a pros. After doing some research about the ASUS Commando motherboard I discovered that I couldn't use two Graphics Card on both PCI-E slots, or a Sound Card and a Graphics Card on both PCI-E slots (I'm not sure if it works this way, I'm really that new lol). So my question is, is that a problem? Again, I'm not a hardcore player, but I do want a cool PC thats really powerfull and cool.
Also, I'm not too sure this motherboard is for me. I'm looking for a motherboard that can handle all games, but I don't want one thats extremely expensive. Then again I don't mind spending money for extra features that I might not use, but that doesn't really matter. What motherboard would you recomend I buy?
Sorry, this post is pretty long so I'll shorten it:
1. Would you recomend a OC capable motherboard (ASUS Commando) to a newbie who isn't a hardcore gamer?
2. Is it a problem instaling two graphics card on a motherboard that only has two PCI-E slots and two PCI slots?
3. What motherboard would you recommend to a newbie gamer, but doesn't mind having a motherboard with cool features he might not use?
Thank you very much in advance.
