Good pc in general?

My bad, i looked at the link and assumed that was they kind of pc he was aiming at. If he wants gaming then yeah conroe and a 7900gtx but it still sounds like overkill when you look at what the guy was originally looking at. We need him to post and say how much power he actually wants/needs

Lol :D I didn't notice that. It says AMD 64 X2 in the title and then about an inch away it has a badge saying AMD 64 FX. Dumb.

Not really, if they got quad sli working effectively then most likely, but it would already be outdated within a couple months and then you would be dreaming again.:P

As for the config you put together before, considering he is still using a 9800 that would be a pretty good setup especially for the price.

I tried to make it balanced whereas some of the others posting on this thread seem to want to go all out with the most expensive components. As bigsaucybob said so perfectly:
Where are you getting this imaginary budget from? A 7900GTX?
He said he does not want to spend more than $750.

Ya honestly if he is sticking with his 9800 there is no need to put any more money in it, could always get extra ram for down the road but its not necessary. A 3800 x2 will handle just about anything pretty fast, great for everyday stuff and for the games you would play with a 9800.

Looking a little close I might change a few things, I would go with this ram instead, not value ram, its a dual channel kit as well. Patriot, its got better timings, so it will be faster especially for games.

And your psu, antec psu's are great, dual 12v rails, enough power to fit your needs. Antec PSU
 
WOW guys, this is a lot of help thanks a lot! Sorry if I wasen't clear before but I am mostly interested in a gaming PC. The graphics card I will keep but new everything else. I guess the most powerful games I play would be games like BF2 and HL2...I'm not looking to max out everything graphics wise but something that will last me a few years and will be easy to upgrade later down the road. Again thanks guys.
 
Ya your 9800 will handle bf2, but on all low, however its a good comp that will make it pretty easy to upgrade you video card later if you so choose.
 
If BF2 and HL2 is what your after the pc i knocked together shud be ample, however, take into account bball4life's recommendations. The ram he suggested is of much higher quality and the psu looks good to. All in all you shudn't need to spend more than $500 to get the kind of pc your looking for so forget what was said about a conroe and 7900GTX build, it's just not needed in your case.

Oh yeah and i just realised that the user reviews for the hard drive i selected don't paint a very flatering picture of the quality of it. I would suggest choosing another one based on the ammount of storage you need.

Ya I saw those reviews as well, lol. I looked for another one that has the same interface and around they same storage, they don't really have one.
Oh and you can use an sata 2 3GB/s hard drive with that motherboard, its backward compatible, but sometimes there are funky jumper settings and stuff. And your last option is a good old ide harddrive.

Thats the exact same config H-Bomb Put up. So use all of that stuff except for the ram and the psu and used the ones I linked to its a better psu, and its more performance ram that will run in dual channel for the same price.
