yo people

im wanting some ideas thrown in for a psu capable of running an overclocked i7 rig with 2 overclocked 4890's (crossfire)

i have been looking at the corsair hx1000 but i dont want to troll through the whole of googles pages to find other makes.

im sure there are a few more alternatives....

must be modular (im not dealing with all that cable management stuff again)

thanx

i dont think you need 2 spend 200 quid on a psu. From wat im told the amount of amps is more important than the wattage. I have a Thermaltake Toughpower 850W which was 150 quid a while ago, it has plenty more power than i need for my oced rig in my sig and a ton of fans. It also has a 4 pin power connector for ocin mobos. Its also modular. There is a website where u can input all the stuff that is in your computer and it will work out the amount of watts u need, but i cant remember it name. Then c the amount of amps u need for your graphics cards, then thats the min u need from the 12v rail on whatever psu u get. http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/ToughPower/W0131/w0131.asp

the post is for a psu up to £200, i dont want to spend alot of money on pc to hold back on psu.

im aware of the amps required

but i think that i would like a little headroom so a good quality psu ranging from 800watts+ preferably with 1 single 12volt rail

look for something from silverstone, i know some aren't completely modular, but it seems the zeus series, and the decathalon series are modular to some extent, i think corsair also has the 750hx and 850hx out(semi modular, atx cables are permanent)

Another good psu is the Zalman ZM1000-HP, its not completely modular, but the ones that are permanent are ones you pretty much need anyhow. It also has very low ripple and excellent +12v voltages throughout load, with good effeciency. If you want pics of it, i could send some. Its also extremely quiet. Heres a good review on it:
