good time to upgrade?

hey guys. I am at the time of the year where I get a little payout from tax and am deciding wether or not it is a good time to upgrade my pc. I dont have a huge amount off cash but there are a few upgrade paths availible and I would like your oppinion on wich one if any to take.

Currently I'm running:
AMD x6 1055t
Gigabyte 890gpa-ud3h
4gb OCZ Black edition ram
Gigabyte 6870 oc edition in crossfire
Antec True Power 750 PSU

Now IT prices in australia are a little different in the US i believe so my budget and prices may not reflect any you have. I am hoping to spend 600.

Looking at the best price list I can either upgrade my CPU,MB and Ram, looking at possibly a Intel 3570k not sure about MB and ram yet but im sure i can fit it into the budget

Or i was looking at upgrading my GPU to a 7970 or 670gtx. Either is in the budget though I "might" be able to squeeze a 680gtx

I would apreciate your thoughts on this. Cheers

If this is just for gaming i'd leave it as is, a 670 might be a good idea but it should max everything as-is.

Id stick with your current setup,Maybe invest in an extra 4GB of ram and an SSD Drive will really speed up the system and upgrade your GPU to a 670.

Is your 1055T stock?..could overclock that too for extra performace
(with a decent aftermarket cooler.)

You don't need RAM to upgrade. Just the CPU and Motherboard. I would say get a 2500k (cheaper and very close to the 3570k) and a Gigabyte-UD3H motherboard in LGA1155. Best on the market for the price. Definately stay away from Asus and ASRock for motherboards.

If you go GPU, get Nvidia. They generally have better driver support, and can do a bunch more than AMD, such as folding at home, as well as pretty much any distrubited computing app like Seti or Rosetta, as well as CUDA applications and Physics applications.

Either route would be great.

cheers for the feedback guys.

My 1055t is stock so i will look at overclocking it.

Think I will go for the GPU option it seems to be the best choice at the moment and maybe look at upgrading the rest of the system next year.
