Google Chrome never agreed with me and here is one reason why. I put Google Chrome on my computer and I took it off for reasons I don't want to go into. Now all my links to the Internet don't work and I get an error message "Unable to open this Internet Shortcut. The protocol "https" does not have a registered program." I have never like Google Chrome because I have always had problem with it and what is it good for?

You can launch ie or install Firefox and set as default browser. That should restore your http file associations

Literally all you had to do was just change your default browser to any other browser and your shortcuts would have worked fine.

I will never put Google chrome on my computer again.
Google Chrome is great! It may eat ram like it's Thanksgiving but's its the fastest browser I've ever seen. It may of goofed up for you, but I don't think any browsers are as feature riddled as Chrome.

The new Firefox is noticeably better than previous versions.

Realistically you can see this behavior when uninstalling anything that has associated file extensions, it's not specifically unique to chrome.
