Anyone have a Google G1 phone? (the one that runs Android OS). What's your views on it?. The phones also called the HTC Dream.
 
I had the Google Android G1. It's probably my best choice if I needed a phone from T-Mobile, but I still prefer my iPhone.

The pros I found were the auto-focus camera, some cool apps for it, and a few other things.
 
Yeah, I was thinking about the iphone, but I already have an ipod touch so i didn't want the phone. I also really like the physics qwerty keyboard of the G1. Anyone else?
 
One more note, what I didn't like about the G1 was that I had to stop what I was doing and use two hands to manually flip open the keyboard and type, with the iPhone you can easily type and operate the phone with one hand while walking. The GUI just looked a bit primitive compared to the iPhone, Palm Pre, and some newer BlackBerry's. I'd wait until the G2 comes out shortly.
 
Yeah, the the G2 looks really sleek (i think it's called the HTC Magic), but it doesn't have a full qwerty keyboard. I'm still contemplating whether it's a worthy tradeoff.

Also the G1 is going to get a virtual qwerty soon through an update.

I played with a G1 for awhile that a friend had, pretty nice phone but i dont like how you have to turn the phone for the keyboard, not as bad as how i have to flip my alias to use my keyboard or any media features, but annoying nonetheless. Tell you the truth though, i cant wait for the palm pre to come out, looks like a pretty sweet phone.

Not sure on the release date, but it will be a Sprint only phone initially, then it will be released for other carriers. I can't wait to see it, looks like a very impressive phone!

Yup I just looked it up, it looks very nice. And it seems like it'll be released in June on the Sprint network (no worries, I'll just buy the unlocked version).

Well, at the moment they are saying first half of 2009, which im hoping is before end of june because thats when my contract expires with verizon, ive heard about a rumored april 30th release date, but there was a rumor about a march 15th release date, and that date has already passed. Also it wont be sprint only, there will be an unlocked gsm variant available;)
 
Ew the GSM unlocked version of the Pre isn't being released till later. I hate it when cell phone makers do this...locking a great phone onto a crappy network.

Like the blackberry touchscreen? I hate how they locked it to verizon, but dont call sprint crappy, best carrier around here plus once you tack on data and messaging they are the cheapest;)
 
Oh, they're just about dead where I live. Anyways, I just generally hate how cell phone's get locked onto ANY network, annoying as hell.
