Google nexus 7 vs acer iconia a110

I am looking to buy a new tablet as my current sumvision is incompatible with a few apps i use a lot.

I am between two tablets with similar specs but small differences.

Google nexus 7 which seems to be a popular choice, but pretty surprised it has no hdmi connection or a micro sd slot for memory expansion even my cheapo sumvision has both of these

or

Acer iconia a110, which has similar spec and cheaper, but i have read none of acer`s previous tablets have been any good.

Any advice or opinions greatly appreciated.

Is HDMI output important to you? I have a Nexus 7 and don't miss HDMI out at all.

The one thing that the Acer has that I would like to have on my N7 is the microSD card slot. However, it's not a big deal as I am able to use an OTG cable to connect a USB thumb drive to my N7 for data storage. I can also store music and video in DropBox and stream to my N7 as long as I have a wifi connection.

I like the screen resolution of the N7 (1280x800 vs 1024x600) and I figure that a Google device will be more apt to get the latest OS updates than an Acer device.

Hey strollin thanks for the reply, i have used the hdmi connection on my current tablet although not a lot, I generally prefer devices with as many main connections as possible from the view point that, I would rather have it there in case i do decide or need to use it, than have a reason to use it then not have the connection.

I do tend to use large memory cards in my devices, so not having a memory card slot is a major point for me.

As you pointed out the screen res is lower on the acer, think it is below what would be considered hd, and yes the nexus being a google device the updates are bound to be very good which is a big point thinking ahead.

Personally I'd go with the Nexus if I had to pick between the two, but it seems HDMI and a memory card slot is a big deal to you.
