Got a new case - is mothebroard fried?

Ok so i transfered my PC into my new case being very carefull not to damadge anything.
however once i hooked it all up i plugged the power cable into my PSU and it came on instantly without the power button on the case being touched - the whole system powered up (fans heat sink hard drive etc...) the psu also gave off a high pitched noise. I though this was not right so i trial and errord for about half an hour removed cables and making sure everything was put together right but nothing worked so i tried my old PSU and the exact thing happened again, so im guessing it is my motherboard.
Nothing comes up on the monitor and the motherboard beep does not sound either.
I have sent an RMA to e buyer just now i am wondering will they replace it and also could it be a processor problem (bearing in mind i did nopt take it out during the transfer)
I also made sure not to fry it or let static get to it

your comments would be appreciated.
 
when i turn the switch on the psu the whole system powers up without even touching the power button on the case - nothing comes up on the monitor and the psu gives off a high pitched noise.
I havent hooked anything up wrong - i tried just plugging the psu 24 pin and 4 pin connect to the motheboard - no hard drives fans etc... even without the power buttons to the case the same thing happens
 
make sure you didnt take any jumpers off that would reset the BIOS. Make sure the BIOS chip isnt shocked or unhooked. Ive had this happen 2 me . Ok try a different Power Supply and unhook the BIOS battery and plug in the new powersupply and then turn the computer on with out the bios battery and then turn off for few secs. then put in the BIOS battery and wait few secs and then turn on . Try that :)
 
hmmm... sounds like the power button from your case is a little faulty... did you check the power button from your case?? i mean is it stuck in pressed position or its in normal position... maybe the wiring for the power button is bad... not sure... what case is this??
 
I dont think it is the case as the same thing happens when none of the case connectors are connected to the motherboard

Hmm... I was going to say that you probably hooked the power switch wire to the wrong jumpers, but if it does it with no wires then that couldn't be it... what happens if you plug in the power supply by itself? Also, do you have another power supply that you could test with the system?
 
hmm... its not the PSU, because you said the old PSU did the same thing...
did the old PSU give the high-pitched noise as well??

have you tried the suggestion given by CCPS??

im pretty sure you've done this, but just to make sure... your motherboard did not touch the tray at all right?? i mean you use the riser for the motherboard did you??
 
Yep used 2 power supplies - both did the same and both made high pitched noise.
I tried the CMOS clear and battery on the motherboard before i posted - didn't work - and yes i did you standoffs.
Power supply by itself - not connected to motherboard does what it should do - nothing lol. Doesn't power up or make the noise either which it shouldnt as there is nothing telling it to turn on
 
seems like your motherboard is drawing a lot of power from the PSU and hence the high-pitched noise...
try plugging everything else except the motherboard... just to make sure if it really is the motherboard...
 
make sure you have those things under the mobo from touching the case. also, make sure nothings getting shorted from the way the case it made, or the way something was hooked up
